European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) is located on the border between Germany and Poland symbolizing internationality and close connection with Eastern Europe. 25% of all students at Viadrina are international students from over 90 countries, which makes Viadrina Germany’s most international university!
Viadrina has a rich history and a long-established academic tradition. The “old” Alma Mater Viadrina was founded back in 1506 and became Brandenburg’s first university. It was closed in 1811 though and then re-founded in 1991 as European University Viadrina following the reunification of Germany.
Nowadays, the university offers various study programmes on graduate and post-graduate level within its three faculties:
- Faculty of Business Administration and Economics,
- Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences,
- Faculty of Law.
Viadrina students have the opportunity to study in different languages, learn 11 foreign languages in the Language Centre and join international exchange programmes with over 260 partner universities all over the world.
To apply for a Bachelor’s programme, international students are requested to use UNI-ASSIST Application Service (www.uni-assist.de). Application for Master’s programmes should be submitted directly to the Department of International Affairs of Viadrina per post. The main selection criteria during the application are the average score of the last education certificate and the relevant language skills.
A close partnership with Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University gives TSU students the opportunity to spend an exchange semester at Viadrina with Erasmus+ KA107 scholarship. Another scholarship project Viadrina Fast Track focuses on high school students from East European countries including Georgia who can apply for a Bachelor’s programme in International Business Administration as well as Social and Cultural Sciences (taught in German) directly after finishing school in Georgia. Details about the programme can be found here: https://www.europa-uni.de/viadrinafasttrack.
